In Thailand, foreigners are not permitted to own land. However, through a usufruct, a foreigner can acquire the right to legally use a plot in Thailand.
A usufruct is an agreement in which the owner gives to another person the right to possess, use and manage his immovable property for a term of up to 30 years or for the lifetime of the usufructuary. This right cannot be transferred or inherit.
