Under the Alien Employment Act, the following occupations are not permitted to foreigners and are reserved only for Thai nationals:
1. Labor work, except labor work in fishery boats under the next category below
2. Agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry and fishery, except work requiring specialized knowledge, farm supervision or labor work in maritime fishery
3. Bricklaying, carpentry or other construction work
4. Wood carving
5. Driving motor vehicles or non-motorized carriers, except for international aircraft piloting
6. Shop attendance
7. Auction
8. Supervising, auditing or providing services in accounting, except occasional internal auditing
9. Diamond or precious stones cutting or polishing
10. Haircutting, hairdressing or beautician work
11. Cloth weaving by hand
12. Mat weaving or utensil making from reed, rattan, hemp, straw or bamboo pellicle
13. Making rice paper by hand
14. Lacquerware making
15. Making Thai musical instruments
16. Nielloware making
17. Goldsmith, silversmith or gold-and-cooper alloy smith work
18. Stone work
19. Making Thai doll
20. Making mattresses and quilt blankets
21. Making alms bowl
22. Making silk product by hand
23. Buddha image making
24. Knife making
25. Making paper and cloth umbrellas
26. Making shoes
27. Making hats
28. Brokerage or agency work, except in international trading
29. Professional civil engineering concerning design and calculation, systemization, analysis, planning, testing, construction supervision or consulting services, except work requiring specialized techniques
30. Professional architectural work concerning design, drawing of plans, cost estimation, construction direction or consulting services
31. Dressmaking
32. Pottery or ceramic ware making
33. Cigarette rolling by hand
34. Tourist guide or tour organizing agency
35. Hawking of goods
36. Thai typesetting by hand
37. Unwinding and twisting silk by hand
38. Clerical and secretarial work
39. Providing legal services or engaging in legal work, except arbitration works and work relating to defense of cases at arbitration level, providing the law governing the dispute under consideration by arbitrators is not Thai law
