The Immigration Act, establishes the following visa categories in addition to the Tourist and Non-Immigrant Visas:

Transit Visa
This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to travel in transit through the Kingdom in order to proceed to the country of destination or to re-enter his/her own country.
Foreigners who have obtained a Transit Visa from a Thai Embassy or Consulate will be granted a 30-day stay in the Kingdom. An extension may be granted for another 30 days (for citizens of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Iran, Nigeria, Togo, and Uganda an extension is granted for only 7 days). Transit Visa holders are not authorized to work in Thailand.

Courtesy Visa
A courtesy visa is a visa obtained by a person holding an official passport who travels as a tourist in Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days. This type of visa is issued free of charge.

Diplomatic Visa
A diplomatic visa is a visa obtained by a person holding a diplomatic passport entering in Thailand to perform his assigned duties. This type of visa is issued free of charge by Royal Thai Embassies or Consulates abroad.
If the person holding a diplomatic passport is from a country that has a visa exemption agreement with Thailand, this person may enter Thailand without a visa and will be allowed to stay for an initial period of 90 days.

Official Visa
An official visa is a visa obtained by a person holding an official passport. This type of visa is issued free of charge.
If the person holding an official passport is from a country that has a visa exemption agreement with Thailand, this person may enter Thailand without a visa and will be allowed to stay for an initial period of 90 days.
